據 Coremetrics 委託英文《商業周刊》的調查發現，大部份市場從業員希望借助科學化的分析數據，為顧客提供更貼身和優惠的產品，以提升網上商店的促銷成效。但調查指出，由 於市場人員礙於技術能力所限，以致推廣成績未能合乎預期目標。此外，由於商業目標與數據準確性兩者存在顯著差異，令很多網上零售商即使有很好的產品，卻未 能找到合適的推廣渠道。

這份題為「The Face of the New Marketer」的研究報告由 Bloomberg BusinessWeek Research Services 公司負責，受訪對象主要是大型企業的行政人員及資深市場從業員。

報告指，利用網上的個人化促銷工具進行推廣是大部分受訪者的首要采納的方式。81% 受訪人士認為有效的產品和網站內容促銷工具對增加每個顧客的交易金額非常重要。而其中過半數人（51%）現正透過個人化推廣工具，針對顧客的個別需求度身 訂造各類型的產品推廣。不過，通過網上促銷所產生的數據資料卻沒有發揮應有的用途。換句話說，企業只因應個別產品或宣傳項目進行促銷，而每次活動完成後， 資料便置之高閣，未有善加處理和整合。

Coremetrics 策略總監 John Squire 表示：「網上產品促銷逐漸備受企業追捧，不過當中仍存在著不少分歧和疑問。企業雖知道網店促銷的重要性，但卻不知從何入手，如何用得其所，發揮最大效能。 事實上，如 Coremetrics 這類領先的市場優化技術供應商，擁有一套完善的技術，用戶根本不用大費周章了解操作原理，便可以輕鬆地擷取由 Coremetrics 提供的網站分析數據，然後轉化成有意義的推廣活動，並按顧客的個人喜好，發放相關的產品促銷資料。」

企業投放在網店的推廣預算雖然顯著增加，但大部分市場人員卻不知道目前使用的工具是否能準確計算促銷活動的成效，以及投資回報率。調查問及企業如何 釐定2009 年的推廣成效時，接近半成（47%）的受訪者回答是「能達到我們的關鍵績效指標 」。62% 的市場從業員則認為沒有信心他們所追蹤的資料和量度網上活動成績的標準是否正確。由此可見，兩者存在一定分歧。

「The Face of the New Marketer」的研究報告主要獲得多個結果，其中，市場從業員面對的首要挑戰，包括怎樣綜合不同推廣渠道和工具，獲得全面的客戶訊息（45%）；以及 如何詮譯數據（41%）。

市場從業員在今年將會增加開支預算的三個範圍包括網上促銷（69%）、增加網上業務的收入（56%）和 Web 2.0（55%）。

企業一直視市場為至關重要的。三分之二（67%）的受訪從業員指出市場推廣對企業來說是關鍵的，只有 19% 認為是沒有一定必要。

研究指電郵促銷（87%）、展開式廣告 Display advertising（86%）和收費搜尋（69%）是三種最常用的網上促銷方法；而三種最常用的市場推廣活動量度工具，則為個別網上促銷活動績效表 （77%）、按瀏覽次數及節數量度網上顧客的行為（76%）、按廣告顯示次數來量度廣告的成效（69%）。

97% 受訪的市場從業員認為各部門的相互協作能更有效地瞄準目標客戶，這對整體的市場推廣成效和業績均有幫助。然而，一半人指出這是一個困難的過程。其中，最大 的障礙包括企業架構（47%）、控制問題（38%）、決策程序 （33%）及內部溝通協調欠佳（33%）。

是次研究由 Bloomberg BusinessWeek Research Services 及 Coremetrics 於2009 年9月至 10月份攜手進行。調查主要就市場從業員對現時網上促銷市場環境所發表的意見和採取的態度作出分析。研究結果由收集所得的 361 份問卷調查綜合而成，受訪對象主要是位於英、美兩國的資深市場推廣從業員。

A QR Code is a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code) created by Japanese corporation Denso-Wave in 1994. The “QR” is derived from “Quick Response”, as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.

Few notes about QR code:

1.) It’s 3D, can be scanned not just horizontal. It can be in any direction.

2.) It allow error checking,  even the image is not intact.

3.) It’s already widely used in some countries (e.g. japan)

4.) It can be used in some marketing materials for quick access.

5.) It can redirect the web access to registration form or promotion page.

6.) On the other hands, people may downloaded the QR code to their phone, and then show it as event tickets.
